Him

You weren’t him

I know this much for sure.

I made him strong

And you are weak.

His heart was gold

And though your eyes are blue

You aren’t him, and he isn’t you.

You aren’t him

I’m now fully aware.

I made him kind

And you are cruel.

His arms were warm and tender

And though your arms tempted me

You aren’t him, you will never be.

{I fell into his eyes

Like a cool summer pool

I melted in his touch

A young and captive fool;

He held me in an embrace

Like a precious jewel.

I waited for his love

But time was ever cruel.}

You aren’t him

I know this now for sure.

I made you so much better in my head

Then in life you ever were.

Written for a boy I once loved.
